The recently released film “Kai Po Che” is based on the novel

Correct: D (The 3 Mistakes of My Life). Kai Po Che (2013), directed by Abhishek Kapoor, is adapted from Chetan Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, published in 2008. The story follows three friends in Ahmedabad who set up a sports goods business, with cricket, Gujarat politics and the 2002 riots in the background.

• A) Lashkar: The name refers to a militant organisation, not a novel that was adapted into this film.
• B) The Loving Doll: Not the source text for this film.
• C) The Story of My Marriage: Not the source text for this film.

The core concept here is the adaptation of popular English-language Indian fiction into Bollywood. For Mains, it links to the culture and media syllabus, and to how Indian writing in English has reached mass audiences.

Trap: Candidates often pick a title that sounds like a novel from a film's trailer or cast announcement. Stick to the author: Chetan Bhagat's works are the usual source for these adaptations.
