The 101 st Indian Science Congress was held between 3 rd and 7 th February 2014 in ?

The 101st Indian Science Congress was held at the University of Jammu, so D is correct. One correction to the question: the session ran from 3 to 7 January 2014, not February. Keep the month right in your notes.

The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), founded in 1914 with its headquarters in Kolkata, organises this annual session, and the venue rotates across universities and institutions each year. The core concept here is simply the ISCA's annual meeting, which is a common Prelims recall item in Science and Technology and Current Affairs. For Mains, it links to how science institutions and national S&T agendas are showcased and debated.

• A) Hyderabad: Wrong for the 2014 edition. Hyderabad is a major science hub, which makes it a tempting but incorrect pick.
• B) New Delhi: Wrong. Delhi has many science bodies, but the 2014 session was not held there.
• C) Patna: Wrong. Patna is associated with an earlier session in memory, not the 101st edition.

Trap: Aspirants pick a city they associate with science in general, or with an earlier ISCA session, instead of checking the specific edition.
