He won 22 consecutive battles against Afghan rulers across North India and Mughal forces of Akbar and Humayun. Hemu acceded the throne of Delhi on 7 October 1556 after defeating Mughal forces and assumed the title of ‘Vikramaditya’ and later known as  Hemachandra Vikramaditya.
