Mega food park is flagship program of Ministry of Food Processing Industries that allows infrastructure or facilities and provides required backward linkages for entrepreneurs to set food processing units. With this, processing of perishables in country rises from 6% to 20% with more of value addition from 20% to 35%. It increases share of country in global food trade from 1.5% to 3% by end of fiscal year. This scheme provides infrastructure for farm level primary processing cold chain in identified clusters, processing of intermediate products, collection centre cum cold chains, centralized infrastructure to take care of processing activities etc.
