Upwelling appears due to blowing of winds along coastline which makes water at ocean surface to move away from coast and allow water from inside of ocean to rises up and takes its place. Such rising water is cold and rich in nutrients because of dead sea creatures and such extra nutrients gets taken away by plankton. Upwelling appears as part of El Niño events in Pacific Ocean off coast of Ecuador and Peru creating an impact on weather and changes the pattern of precipitation in certain areas.
