Correct Answer: Both 1 and 2. Both statements 1 and 2 are correct. Swadeshi movement was launched in 1905 to oppose the British decision of partitioning Bengal on religious lines. The objective of the movement was to attack Britishers economically via boycotting their products and using home-made/home-grown products. Hence, it emphasised on self-reliance thus contributing to revival of indigenous artisans’ craft and industries. In August 1906 the National Council of Education was established to provide an impetus to program of national education as a part of Swadeshi movement.
