Correct Answer: 2 only. Only statement 2 is correct. It was 39 th amendment (1975), that placed election of Prime Minister, President, Vice President and Speaker of Lok Sabha beyond judicial reach. It entrusted that role to the body of a parliament. 99 th Amendment Act (National Judicial Appointment Council) was stuck down by Supreme court stating that it impinges upon the principles of “independence of the judiciary”, as well as, “separation of powers”.
