Correct Answer: 1 and 3 only. With reference to cultivation of Kharif crops in India, of the given statements only 1 and 3 are correct. Though area under rice cultivation in India is highest (43 million hectares) in the world but productivity is less than countries like Japan, China, Korea and USA. Area under cultivation of Jowar (17-18 million hectares) is less than area under oilseeds cultivation (28 million hectares). Area under sugarcane cultivation have been tipsy-turvy i.e. it was 4.9 million hectares in 2015-16 which decreased in 2016-17 (4.4 million hectares) but again increased in 2017-18 (4.7 million hectares), so statement 4 is incorrect.
